Spooky Fun at the BMGCA Halloween Event – Kanata Families Celebrate in Style!
This Halloween, The Briarbrook Brookside Morgan’s Grant Community Association (BMGCA) hosted a lively Halloween-themed event that brought together Kanata families and Ottawa locals for an unforgettable day of fun and festivities! As an event photographer based in Kanata, I had the best time capturing every detail of this community celebration. Here’s a glimpse into the highlights!
Fun Activities for All Ages
The day kicked off with vibrant face painting, and the artists’ work was nothing short of AMAZING! Kids and adults alike left the face-painting station transformed, donning intricate designs that brought out the Halloween spirit in everyone. There was a mummy-wrapping contest, where groups raced to turn their friends and family into the best “mummies” using rolls of paper. Laughter filled the air as everyone tried to wrap up their teammates as fast as possible.
Families gathered at the pumpkin station, where hand-picked pumpkins were decorated and judged, this year a memo was missed so we had only one adorable cat pumpkin, but it pulled at heart strings with how gosh darn cute it was!!
Halloween Games with a Spooky Twist
The kids had a blast with some fun, Halloween-themed games. The “spider races” were a unique hit—kids cheered as they raced their mini spider toys along the track, spurring them on with excitement. Another game, the classic spoon race, had a spooky spin! A fun decorated sidewalk displaying Zombie run created a fun themed course for kids to play on too!
Costume Parades & Contests Amidst Unexpected Rain
Of course, no Halloween celebration would be complete without a costume contest! The littlest attendees kicked things off with a parade to showcase their costumes, from adorable animals to spooky ghouls. Just as the older kids were about to join in, the skies opened up, and we were hit with a downpour! Quick to adapt, everyone dashed for cover under the gazebo, where we continued with the costume judging. Despite the rain, spirits stayed high, and the older kids got their moment to shine with their creative costumes!!
Coming Together for the Community
Alongside the festive fun, Kanata families brought along items for the local food cupboard, embodying the spirit of giving and community care. Watching everyone come together—despite a little rain—to celebrate and support each other was heartwarming and a testament to the strength of the BMGCA community.
Overall, it was an incredible event that brought together Kanata North families, filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit. As a Kanata Family photographer, I was thrilled to capture these joyful moments and see families making unforgettable memories. Events like these highlight why I love photographing in this community; they’re always filled with such warmth and enthusiasm. I can’t wait for next year’s Halloween gathering!
