Sarah and Justin’s Engagement Session in Ottawa
Sarah Boyd and I *almost* crossed paths back in 2008 at cross country, though we never officially met. She always crushed her races, coming in first every time and me somewhere in the pack just running along enjoying my music. It wasn’t until 2009, when I started dating (my now husband) Matthew, that I truly got to know her, Matt was always hilariously met with people saying, “Oh Matt? Sarah's older brother?!” Her athleticism, community involvement and warm personality made her someone everyone seemed to know and admire.
Fast forward to 2017: Matt and I got married, and Sarah stood by my side as maid of honour. Except, I was a butt face and told her she couldn’t bring a plus one (sorry, Justin!) Looking back, I should have known it was serious by the way Sarah lit up whenever she talked about him, and I totally should have said yes to him attending!!
As an Ottawa wedding photographer, it was such an honour to photograph Sarah and Justin’s engagement session and capture this beautiful chapter of their story. But, as the sister-in-law, with eight years of watching their love story unfold the session was just extra special.
Rockcliffe Park Engagement Session with Storm
We began at Rockcliffe Park, my new favourite Ottawa engagement photography locations. While we drove there as a rain storm was happening, my cute title eludes to us actually being joined by their adorable pup, Storm. She brought so much personality to the shoot, adorably stealing the spotlight with her puppy dog eyes. Storm even rocked a few outfit changes, including a gorgeous floral collar designed by Kseniia, owner and lead designer of Nectar Flowers Ottawa. It was such a thoughtful detail that added charm and whimsy to their session.
Sunset Portraits at NCC Riverhouse
After the park, we headed to the NCC Riverhouse to soak in the golden sunset. The soft light was perfect for romantic portraits, highlighting the joy and laughter Sarah and Justin share so effortlessly. As an Ottawa engagement photographer, these moments that are quiet, genuine, and full of love are my favourite to capture.
A Whimsical Ottawa Engagement
From playful moments with Storm at Rockcliffe Park to dreamy sunset portraits at NCC Riverhouse, Sarah and Justin’s engagement session was filled with laughter, love, and little touches of magic.
