Lindsay + Chris - Brookstreet, Ottawa, Wedding

It is said that rain is lucky on your wedding day.... so a derecho must mean oodles of good luck, right?

With the Derecho that roared through Ottawa, Lindsay and Chris had quite the memorable Brookstreet Hotel Wedding in Kanata, Ontario. As we walked up the staircase from the parking garage the windows were hit by sheets of rain as we nervously looked around at one another. A tiny flicker of lights occurred and the generator seamlessly kicked in, nestled into the Brookstreet Hotel we were sheltered from the storm and even from the power outage. (An outage that kept parts of the province in the dark for days!)

The vibe of the wedding was romantic, elegant, and perfect. The ceremony went on without a hitch, the room was gorgeously draped for a beautiful backdrop for Lindsay and Chris to say I do. Portraits occurred flawlessly, with gorgeous weather and the perfect diffused light from overcast skies, an Ottawa Wedding photographer's DREAM! The reception was decorated straight out of a Pinterest board, it was magnificently set up! The soundtrack to the day was Kimberley Dunn with live piano and singing.

Lindsay and Chris had such personal sentimental moments added into their day. Chris's mom and dad watched the wedding day unfold through a live stream from Ireland; Fitz arranged a heartfelt pre-recorded video for the newlyweds, and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. With a Glam booth from MDRN as wedding favours with prints tucked into golden frames (also doubled as entertainment!) a magician to mesmerize guests, and a boho seating area from Lou Lou Lounge, cocktail hour was a party! A personal touch to the night was a whisky and cigar bar, a huge hit with guests to celebrate Lindsay and Chris and keep the party rolling into the night!

A huge shout out to Lindsay's Mom, Sandy Ouellette, she poured so much love, time, and energy into every detail of Chris and Lindsay's wedding, and it really showed that each detail was so thoughtfully curated!
